A group of gold prospectors in Sudan found a mass grave containing 25 corpses, all of them black men. The bodies were buried in an underground concrete room in the Dambo area, near Argo in Northern State. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that the dead men were dressed in civilian clothes stained with blood, and seemed to have been shot dead.<\/p>\n

The corpses were put into 2 rows, one row of 13 bodies and the other of 12, in a room 4 meters square and 3 meters deep. The chamber was sealed with a block of cement.The witnesses related that a helicopter flew above the area at the moment of its discovery, and a joint force of police and security headed to the location as soon as the news was known in the town. They ordered the people there to leave and cordoned off the place with heavy security.<\/p>\n

Fathi Khalil, the governor of Northern State, strongly denied this information. Contacted by Radio Dabanga, he said that the gold prospectors had found the body of only one person. He said the police have investigated.<\/p>\n

Minister of Mining Abdelbagi Al Gilani reported that he had no information about the matter, and said that he had heard about if for the first time from Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n
