Representatives of the civil society organizations which are to hold a
conference in Doha in the coming Friday stated that they would
probably support any agreement proposed by the mediators as long as it
implements the resolutions of the prior two conferences held in Doha.
They also stated that they were not going to Doha to endorse on an
already-prepared agreement. Idriss Yusfu, a member of the Darfur civil
society groups\u2019 mechanism in Khartoum told Radio Dabanga that they
have decided to participate in the forum to prevent partial
participation wherein the real stake-holders would be missing and the
opinion of one side imposed.From his side, Dr. Ismail Hussein Fadal Abdi, the head of the
parliament, expressed his fears that the forum might not represent the
will of the people of Darfur and take their opinions. Rather, the
forum could be used to create a temporary solution to a crisis --
another \u2018failed Abuja\u2019 agreement. In an interview with Radio Dabanga,
he stated that the representatives of the National Congress Party
(NCP) have tried to dominate the parliamentary representation, which
was set at 22 delegates.

NCP domination of the parliamentary delegation was confirmed by Hasabo
Mohammed Abdul Rahman, the head of Darfur Caucus in the assembly. He
admitted that his party (the NCP) is dominating the delegation, but he
justified this by saying that the latest election had given his party
a mandate of support. In an interview with Radio Dabanga, Hasabo
announced that they would support signing any partial agreement and
end the negotiations instead of waiting for the other movements and
factions to join. He also confirmed that they were hoping for a
comprehensive agreement.

Regarding the same issue, Dr. Ghazi Salah Eldin, the official
responsible of the Darfur file, announced that it has been agreed that
the Darfur Peace Agreement should be revised for the last time and
given to the conference which will be held on Friday. Ghazi also
renewed his government\u2019s support to the efforts of the mediation to
produce a final document and conclude with the holding of a conference
where all the leaders and civil society organizations will
participate.
