Open fire at residents, spreading fear and panic; perpetrators accused of being backed by LJM<\/STRONG><\/P>

A few gunmen broke into Kalma refugee camp in South Darfur on Sunday and opened fire at camp residents spreading terror and panic among them.The gunmen entered block three of the refugee camp and started firing, which led to camp residents fleeing their homes.<\/P>
\n

Witnesses of the incident residing in the camp told Radio Dabanga that they suspected the armed men to be affiliated to a \u2018pro-Doha\u2019 group, implying the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM).<\/P>
\n

Fear of violence inside the camp shot up when the LJM announced that they would conduct routine visits in Darfuri camps.<\/P>
\n

The gunmen raided the house of a barber, Muhammad Harun, in the camp. However, Harun could not be found in his house. Harun was allegedly arrested and tortured by Sudanese security services for a period of six months in 2010.<\/P>
\n

The camp coordinator in Kalma called for the UNAMID to set up a center of the mission in each block of the camp to ensure safety of the civilians by keeping these elements out.<\/P>

Nyala doctors<\/STRONG><\/P>
\n

Meanwhile, in South Darfur\u2019s capital city of Nyala, doctors in the general hospital resumed their strike on Thursday.<\/P>
\n

Radio Dabanga has been reporting on the continuing strike of the doctors<\/A> in Nyala over demands for better working conditions.<\/P>
\n

The doctors said that they had to resume their strike because the state administration had turned down their demands on Thursday despite having promised to meet them previously. \u201cThey had promised us improved working conditions and private insurance for doctors, but our demands haven\u2019t been met,\u201d one of the doctors told Radio Dabanga.<\/P>
\n

He added that they wouldn\u2019t call off the strike until all their demands have been met.<\/P>
