The ICC had issued an arrest warrant against the Sudanese president in 2009 for war crimes in the Darfur conflict. Malawi, despite being a signatory to the Rome Statute that established the ICC, refused to arrest Bashir.<\/p>\n<p>A Malawian government official was quoted by the BBC as saying that it wasn&#8217;t the country&#8217;s \u201cbusiness\u201d to arrest African presidents indicted by the ICC.
