Sudanese official accuses the resistance group of maneuvering the killing of three UN peacekeepers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dafalla Al Haj, the Sudanese representative at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), accused the Sudan Liberation Army-Minni Minnawi (SLA-MM) of attacking the United Nations African Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) patrol earlier this month.<\/p>\n

The attack that took place in North Darfur’s Zamzam camp on October 10 had left three UNAMID peacekeepers dead. Al Haj was quoted in a Sudanese daily newspaper Asahafa on Wednesday blaming SLA-MM for the incident.<\/p>\n

In his speech at the UNSC, the Sudanese government official also accused resistance forces in Darfur of using military tactics to destabilize authority in Khartoum.<\/p>\n

SLA-MM denies accusation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Abdullah Al Murshal, spokesperson for the SLA-MM, denied his group’s involvement in the attack. He in turn accused militia loyal to the Sudanese government of having carried out the attacks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government’s goal with the accusation is to distort the image and reputation of the resistance forces who are waging a struggle against the the regime in Khartoum,\u201d Abdullah Al Murshal said.<\/p>\n
