A survey conducted by Radio Dabanga reveals that many families are struggling to meet basic requirements of food and clothing<\/strong><\/p>\n

Darfuri civilians complained on Monday about difficulties in earning a livelihood and meeting basic requirements due the Sudanese government’s policies, according to a survey conducted by Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

Radio Dabanga contacted dozens of civilians on Monday to find out that education and health remain primary concerns for families in Darfur.<\/p>\n

The increase in prices of consumer goods and food stuffs is a big concern for Darfuris spread across three states. Clothing, among other necessary commodities, has become expensive, respondents told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

Many families are surviving on one meal a day as earning a livelihood is becoming more and more difficult in the region. \u201cWe are missing the most basic elements of food. Meat, vegetables and fruits have disappeared from the market,\u201d one of the respondents told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

The survey also discovered that many heads of households were suffering from poor psychological state of being because of their inability to meet the needs of their families, especially children and elders.<\/p>\n

One of the respondents pointed out that the governments of North, South and West Darfur hadn’t strained a muscle to take action to address the issue of high prices.<\/p>\n
