The move comes as a response to arrest warrant issued against Omar Al Bashir by a Kenyan court<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sudan ordered the Kenyan ambassador in Khartoum to leave the country on Tuesday, after a Kenyan court issued an arrest warrant against Sudanese president Omar Al Bashir.<\/p>\n

Khartoum also ordered its ambassador in Nairobi to return immediately to the country. The Sudanese foreign ministry said on Monday night that its officials had asked the Kenyan ambassador to leave Sudanese territory within 72 hours.<\/p>\n

On Monday a court in Kenya issued an arrest warrant against Bashir, who until now had been enjoying \u201csovereign immunity\u201d in the country. Bashir is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur. Bashir wasn\u2019t arrested last year when he traveled to Nairobi.<\/p>\n

The Sudanese foreign ministry described the decision of the Kenyan court as a “translation of frantic efforts of a group of activists trying to persuade the Kenyan government.\u201d It added that the group had added \u201cpressure to obtain a political decision and when the quest had failed, they resorted to the option of judicial ruling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Human rights advocate welcomes move<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Abdul Baki Jibril, an official at the Darfur Relief and Documentation Centre (DRDC) in Geneva, welcomed the decision of the Kenyan court.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe decision is sound. It agrees to correct the law and contributes towards attaining justice and does not promote impunity,\u201d Baki Jibril said. He also denounced the Sudanese government\u2019s decision to expel the Kenyan ambassador by calling it an \u201cemotional reaction.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe decision issued by Kenya is a judicial one and has nothing to do with politics,\u201d Baki Jibril said. He demanded justice and rule of law from the Sudanese government rather than emotion, which Baki Jibril believed will not solve the problem.<\/p>\n

Refugees praise arrest warrant<\/strong><\/p>\n

Refugees from Darfur and eastern Chad praised the Kenyan court\u2019s decision to issue an arrest warrant against Bashir.<\/p>\n

The displaced people described the event as good news which provided them with a glimmer of hope that justice is inevitable.<\/p>\n

One of the leaders in Chad\u2019s Jebel refugee camp said that the perpetrators will be arrested sooner or later. He called on all African countries, especially the ones neighboring Sudan to take similar steps.<\/p>\n
