Adham Muslim, the \t director of the coordination World Food Program Revealed that the \t re-registration cards of the displaced people in the province was \tpart of a full strategy and program of the WFP to modernize and \trenew the data. <\/span><\/p>\n

The data are renewed to assess the food situation \tand determine adequate food rations for displaced people as well as \tto learn of new births and the number of those who lost their cards \tor had their cards destroyed. <\/span><\/p>\n

It has now been 7 years from the last \tregistration which was in 2005. <\/span><\/p>\n

He also added that the donor \tcountries demanded the renewal of the procedures to assess the \treality and see what is going on in the province. <\/span><\/p>\n

In an interview \twith Radio Dabanga, Adham said that the registration is also a way \tof knowing who should be receiving food and the exclusion of \tnon-eligible in addition to taking into account the beneficiaries \twho were not registered.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said that the reduction of food rations \tfor displaced people was based on studies and surveys conducted by \tthe World Food Program and humanitarian organizations operating in \tthe province.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, <\/span>Adham denied the statement that the WFP has dropped its responsibility of providing food to the affected people, and has given the responsibility to the traders, explaining that traders were just tools for the distribution of food rations. He also denied the existence of any shortage or manipulation of food rations, whether from the World Food Program, or traders, noting that the size and quantities of food quota of the displaced people are known as organized accurately, stating that there are follow-ups and strict control by the World Food Program on the traders. <\/span><\/p>\n

In the interview with Radio Dabanga, Adham said that the program is committed to providing food in case of its absence or none availability in the market by traders citing the provision of food grains for the displaced people in camps in Zalingei after the inability of traders provided food commodities. <\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, Adham confessed that there were delays in the distribution of food rations and a stop in the activity in Kalma camp in South Darfur due to the inability to continue their activity and distribute food rations using the old information. <\/span><\/p>\n

Adham attributed the delay in the distribution of food rations to the rejection of three sheikhs from the camp out of 15 sheikhs to the re-registration of the cards, accusing the three sheikhs in benefiting from the non-renewal of cards because they are in possession of more than one card. <\/span><\/p>\n

Adham told Radio Dabanga that the future plans and programs in the region is to establish development and reconstruction projects to help all those displaced people who wish to return to their areas.<\/span><\/p>\n
