Says hunger makes situation in camp critical <\/strong><\/p>\n

Ali Abdul Rahman, the sheikh supervising all of Kalma camp\u2019s sheikhs, urged the World Food Program to provide food for the camp\u2019s displaced people: \u201cIt has been two months since we last received our shares, and there is great suffering in the camp due to the lack of food distribution, especially among women, children and the elderly<\/em>,\u201d he explained. Re-registration cards VS guarantees<\/strong><\/p>\n

He furthermore added that the displaced do not reject the idea of reinstating registration cards, but that they want guarantees from WFP officials that these would not be used as an instrument of pressure to make them return to their original villages. \u201cThe displaced will not return as refugees to their villages unless their case has been solved<\/em>,\u201d Mr. Rahman added.<\/p>\n

In addition, the displaced people expressed their mistrust of Sudanese people working in international organizations, and asked for a visit to the camp by senior WFP officials so they can personally vouch for their intentions and give them guarantees.<\/p>\n

Sheikhs ‘reflect opinions in camps’<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last, Mr. Rahman denied the statement made by WFP coordination director Adham Muslim<\/a> about the rejection by three sheikhs of the re-registration cards:  \u201cthe sheikhs reflect the opinion of the displaced<\/em>,\u201d he told Radio Dabanga<\/p>\n
