First Vice President Ali Osman Taha’s two day visit ended yesterday in Darfur. He promised to start many new projects, a source told Radio Dabanga. These include new clinics, schools and animal health care services in Seraf Umra, Kebkabiya, Durma and El Fasher.<\/p>\n

The government is reported as having pledged 22.6 million Sudanese Pounds for localities in North Darfur to begin these projects.<\/p>\n

Crowd surges during visit<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the visit of Ali Osman Taha on Tuesday to Kebkabiya in North Darfur, two people were reported killed and a further eight injured during the political rally a witness told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

Large crowds had gathered for the rally. Two people, Muhammad Abdullah Mansour and Selma Salih Yousef were standing on the back of an open top car. Due to the movement and excitement of the crowds, the car stopped suddenly. The two victims fell from the car and were trampled upon by camels.<\/p>\n

Sources reported another incident where eight people were crushed in the crowd when it surged. Two people were seriously injured and are in hospital.<\/p>\n
