On Monday, pro-government militias traveling in Land Cruisers were reported as having looted the villages of Muhammad Ali, Durma, Jaraf and Jamah, close to El Fasher, a witness told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

Reaching Jaraf first, the militia gathered in a village where a wake was going on. Many inhabitants of the village, and some from further a field, had gathered for the wake as customary to console the bereaved. Using weapons, the militia stole the camels, horses and donkeys that people had traveled on. Witnesses said they even took the mattresses and shoes of people at the wake. In total they gathered over 300 sheep, cattle and camels.<\/p>\n

The militia were reported as moving on to the villages of Muhammad Ali, Durma and Jamah where they allegedly stole hundreds more livestock.<\/p>\n

The chief of the locality Muhammad Saleh Mandi told Radio Dabanga that he reported this activity to the police and local government. He was still waiting for a response.<\/p>\n

More looting on day two<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another militia group were also reported on Tuesday to Radio Dabanga for looting sheep, cattle and camels from the village of Muhammad Ali. Witnesses said that the villagers had tried to chase them to retrieve some of their animals, but the armed group managed to get away.<\/p>\n

Over the two days of looting, witnesses said that the militia groups had reportedly managed to gather 2586 animals.<\/p>\n
