Kalma camp leaders in South Darfur said they do not reject the World Food Programme’s (WFP) re-registration process but want assurances that the process will not be linked to voluntary return for displaced people back to their villages.<\/p>\n

‘They must promise us they will not link the re-registration process needed to update their aid distribution lists as conditional on voluntary return’, said camp leader Ali Abdel Rahman.<\/p>\n

He added that the camp residents need security on the ground and a solution to the Darfur crisis before they can return to their villages.<\/p>\n

180,000 at Zam Zam<\/strong><\/span>
<\/span><\/p>\n

Zam Zam camp leaders said there are 180,000 displaced people, not the 34,000 suggested by the WFP yesterday.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Camp sources said the WFP is making it up and 34,000 is not accurate at all.<\/span><\/p>\n
