Camp leaders at Kass in South Darfur have decided to go ahead with the World Food Programme’s re-registration process after four months of no food rations.<\/p>\n

The WFP said it would not distribute food if it did not update its registration lists. Camp residents worried they may be asked to return to their villages.<\/p>\n

A leader said the WFP met with more than 300 representatives to reassure them that there was no link between re-registration and voluntary return, and agreed a plan to start the process.<\/p>\n

Zalingei appeal to Kalma<\/strong><\/p>\n

Zalingei camp leaders that already agreed and carried out the WFP’s registration process appealed to Kalma camp in South Darfur to accept the operation to resume urgently needed food aid.<\/p>\n

Kalma camp has been locked in a stalemate with the WFP for more than six months over fears the process<\/a> is also tied to the Doha peace agreement and will force people to return to their homes.<\/p>\n

The Zalingei leaders told Radio Dabanga appealed to Kalma elders to sit down with the WFP and find a solution that assures them that the process will not be linked to a political agenda.<\/p>\n
