The court of Libya market sentenced eight students to 40 whip lashes for taking part in the funeral of Abdul Hakim Abdullah Musa. Musa was reportedly killed by<\/span> security forces in Omdurman on the third of April.<\/p>\n

Ezzedine Sadiq Adam, Adam Abdul Malik Mohammad, Anwar Hussein Issa, Abbas Suleiman Hassaballah, Fathi Mohammad Abdullah Ali, Mohammad Abdullah Bashir and Abul Gasim Abaker Mohammad will be punished for attending Musa’s funeral.<\/p>\n

Another student, Mubarak Mohammad Achmed Abdullah, was, in addition to the whip lashes sentenced to five months in prison for carrying a banner at the funeral stating ‘killing a student, killing a nation’.<\/p>\n

Angry crowds gathered<\/a> last week at Musa’s funeral. Protesting students chanted slogans against the government calling President Al Bashir ‘a butcher’.<\/p>\n

The Darfur Bar Association condemned the decision of the court to sentence the students.<\/p>\n
