Sudanese activists have been galvanizing support for a massive protest on Friday under the slogan \u201cthe Friday of elbow-licking\u201d, in reference to the phrase \u201click your elbow\u201d which the NCP\u2019s vice chairman, Nafie Ali Nafie, is famous for using to indicate the impossibility of something, as in uprising against the regime. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, protests continued in several parts of the capital on Tuesday and Wednesday. Activists and journalists tell Radio Dabanga that the security forces are continuing their crackdown on protesters, arresting students and political activists. They say the government is afraid because activists and anti-government groups say they are preparing for the biggest protest on Friday.<\/p>\n

In response to the protests the government blocked three well-known Sudanese websites: www.sudaneseonline.com<\/a>, www.alrakoba.com<\/a> and www.hurriyatsudan.com<\/a><\/p>\n

Kassala City<\/strong><\/p>\n

Demonstrations continue for a second day in Kassala city, in Kassala State in East Sudan. Students from the University of Kassala flooded the streets shouting the slogan \u201cThe people want to overthrow the regime\u201d. One of the protesters told Radio Dabanga the police used tear gas and batons to disperse the crowds. He said that many students were injured and taking to hospital and that the students Mohamed Salahadeen Kanari and Mohamamed Abess were arrested.<\/p>\n

Atbarah<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tuesday demonstrations were held in the town of Atbarah in the River Nile state. The demonstraters were demanding the government to step down, many of whom were arrested, a citizen tells Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

El Gedarif<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wednesday evening students in the El Gedarif University protest inside the dormitories of the university. The building was surrounded by police and security forces who prevented the students from escaping.<\/p>\n
