<\/a> Security forces and pro-government militia clashed on Monday at the Hi Al Sika Hadid and Taiba neighborhoods, east Nyala, South Darfur. Several people died or got injured, but exact numbers remain unclear. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that one policeman was killed and four people (two policemen and two members of the security forces) got injured as a result of the fighting. In addition, six pro-government militia were arrested. The police commissioner of South Darfur, General Taha Jalal, said two members of the security forces and one policeman were injured and one member of the pro-government militia was arrested. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> Sources affirm that pro-government militia often terrorize and loot citizens, shops and homes in Hi Al Sika Hadid and Taiba. They also noted that on Tuesday 14 militia men wearing military uniforms plundered the Taiba market and continued to Hi Al Sika Hadid, where security forces opened fire on them before government property was looted. Clashes started on Monday midday and lasted until midnight on Tuesday. Witnesses say both sides used heavy guns.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Citizens complain about the rise of terror, looting and violence caused by the militia for a long time now. They say authorities were contacted but that they nothing about the situation so far. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
