On Wednesday 5 September, the Governor of North Darfur Osman Mohamed Yusuf Kibir, announced that a total of seven people got killed and 11 got injured due to the recent events<\/a> in Kutum.<\/p>\n

In a press statement, the Governor said that out of the seven people killed, five of them were policemen and the other two were civilians. He did not specify to which events the victims belong to.<\/p>\n

Governor Kibir added that all police forces and the committee responsible for investigating the assassination<\/a> of El-Waha’s commissioner withdrew from Kutum for security reasons. He explained the committee is also responsible for investigating the incidents<\/a> in Kutum town and in the Kassab and Fato Borno camps.<\/p>\n

The North Darfur Governor also said he banned anyone, except for the army and the police, from wearing masks and carrying weapons. He said this ban is valid to all cities of North Darfur. Kibir also reported that the curfew in Kutum continues.<\/p>\n
