An armed group kidnapped a displaced woman and broke the hand of another displaced woman from Kassab camp, Kutum locality in North Darfur on Friday September 28.<\/p>\n
Kassab camp sheikh, Taher Ismail, told Radio Dabanga that an armed group on horses and camels appeared on Friday and attacked a number of displaced women near the camp. The women were on the way to their farms, north of the camp, when they were attacked.<\/p>\n
The gunmen kidnapped Aisha Haroon Mohamed and broke the hand of displaced Aisha Abdullah Hamed. The sheikh confirmed the return of several of the displaced women to the camp, after they managed to escape and evade the militants.<\/p>\n
The incident has been reported to UNAMID, the sheikh added to Radio Dabanga from Kassab camp.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, sheikh Taher revealed the emergence of a new phenomenon in the region. He explains that youth groups drive around the camp, attacking women and looting citizens.<\/p>\n
The sheikh considers this phenomenon a verification of the lack of security and stability in the camp as well as a return of the attacks and looting in an even more dangerous form. He called on UNAMID to expand their patrols to the roads around the camp.<\/p>\n
