Farmers from Idd El-Fursan in South Darfur and from Bahr El-Arab in East Darfur complained about their farms’ exposure to attacks by Zurzur birds, in an interview with Radio Dabanga on Friday October 5.<\/p>\n
A number of farmers told Radio Dabanga the birds started attacking millet and corn, which was at the stage of ripening.<\/p>\n
They pointed out that the agricultural authorities sprayed the farms during the past few weeks, but with little effect; the birds are still attacking the farms. The farmers claim the Zurzur birds emerged more heavily and attacked more farms than before.<\/p>\n
The farmers fear that the birds will destroy the crops and that their hard labor and money will be lost, unless the agricultural authorities speed up fighting the plague.<\/p>\n
