A delegation of EU ambassadors will visit El-Fasher, North Darfur, to investigate the general circumstances in the state and to evaluate peace efforts done by UNAMID, Radio Dabanga was informed.<\/p>\n

The visit, which will start on Wednesday 17 October and will last for two days, will be led by the head of delegation of the EU to Sudan, Ambassador Tomas Ulincy, an official source from the EU in Khartoum informed Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the delegation will attend several meetings with the Darfur Regional Authority and with the local government of North Darfur to identify the conditions in the region, the source explained.<\/p>\n

The delegation will also meet with the leadership of UNAMID next week to discuss the mission’s work, the source pointed out. He added this will include site visits to a number of areas in North Darfur to inspect projects implemented by the mission with EU funding.<\/p>\n

The source said the delegation will also meet with several leaders of cultural and educational institutions in North Darfur to learn about the role they play in the peace process.<\/p>\n

The EU delegation is composed of ambassadors from the U.K, Sweden, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and France.<\/p>\n
