Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) shelled the city of Kadugli for the fourth time in three weeks <\/span><\/span><\/span>on Friday morning October 26<\/span><\/span><\/span>, witnesses told Radio Dabanga. Witnesses<\/span><\/span><\/span> from Kadugli disclosed that a number of government troops and citizens were killed and injured on the first day of Eid al-Adha.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The Governor of South Kordofan, Ahmed Haroun, announced a state of emergency in Kadugli after the bombings, witnesses told Radio Dabanga.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n They said the airstrike started around 8:30 in the morning and continued for appromixately 3 hours. The witnesses stated that the bombings focused on the southern neighborhoods of the city, where the headquarters of the Popular Defense Forces are located, as well as the western district, base of the Sudanese army’s \u201cBand 14\u201d and police forces, in addition to the western district.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The witnesses said that more than 16 shells were dropped on Friday morning and added that one of the bombs landed at about 10 meters from the residence of South Kordofan Governor, Ahmed Haroun. The Governor stated he moved to the \u201cBand 14\u201d base for safety reasons.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Witnesses asserted that the eastern, western and southern neighborhoods are deserted after many of the residents fled towards neighborhoods in the north and the areas of Murta, Kalba, Hajr al-Nar and Sha’eer, in the past two days. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n They added that the Sudanese Air Forces intensified its flights above SPLM sites and the outskirts of Kadugli. The witnesses claimed that SPLM blocked all roads leading to the city to prevent the government troops from entering, adding that the only way to reach the city is by air.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Fourth shelling in Kadugli within three weeks<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n For its part, SPLM confirmed bombing several military sites of government inside the city of Kadugli on Friday morning, in response to the extensive airstrikes by the Sudanese Air Forces earlier that morning.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Arno Ngutolo Lodi, spokesman of the SPLM-N, disclosed that four planes, two Antonovs and two MiG planes, launched intense air strikes at six o’clock on Friday morning and dropped several bombs on the villages of Umm Dolo, Al-Regeivy, Umm Sirdiba, Al-Atmor in Umm Doreen locality and the villages of Delouka, Al-Boram, Al-Tais in Al-Boram locality, as well as the area of Al-Sabi in Dilling locality and the village of Al-Kawaleeb in Dalama locality and Krongo and Leima in Kadugli locality.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Lodi emphasized that the airstrikes have left many citizens dead and injured as well as killing dozens of livestock. He added that many farms and homes were severely damaged. The spokesman stated they bombed the government’s military bases inside the city of Kadugli in response to the intense and widespread air strikes by SAF.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n He added that Khartoum’s regime did not take the feelings of Muslims into consideration on the first day of Eid al-Adha; confronting them with murder and displacement, leading to increased suffering of the people in Nuba Mountains, he added to Radio Dabanga in this regard.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n On another note, Lodi said that an attack by SPLM-N troops inside the city of Kadugli on Tuesday October 23, left 25 government troops killed and injured. In addition, the troops managed to destroy some of the army’s military equipment and vehicles. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Lodi also disclosed, the killing of seven and injuring of 25 members of pro-government militias in a battle in Jebel al-Leery on Tuesday. He explained that the pro-government militias set fire to villages east of al-Leery and kidnapped several residents and took them to their base west of al-Leery, Lodi added to Radio Dabanga.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
