Local residents and relatives of the victims from the massacre that killed 13 people in Sigili village, Shawa area, in North Darfur, continued their sit-in protest for the second consecutive day, a victim’s relative told Radio Dabanga on Monday, 5 November.<\/span><\/p>\n

The protest, at Tahrir square, in El-Thawra neighborhood, south of El-Fasher, will continue until the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice, the source pointed out.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the source, many parties who denounced and condemned the massacre also offered the victims’ relatives their condolences. They include tribal leaders, representatives of political forces and civil society organizations, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

The victim’s relative also told Radio Dabanga that these parties demanded that the perpetrators are arrested and brought to a fair trial. In addition, they demanded that militias are disarmed and they called for the renunciation of tribal hostilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tribal leaders from Kalemondo locality, where the incident took place, affirmed that the perpetrators do not represent any tribe from the locality, the source told Radio Dabanga.<\/span><\/p>\n

The leaders added they are against the recruitment and armament of tribes and asserted they do not approve what happened in Sigili, the victim’s relative pointed out.<\/span><\/p>\n
