Herders were accused of killing four farmers in two separate incidents in the last few days in North Darfur, witnesses told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

The latest incident took place on Friday evening, 23 November, at 7pm, in Kodill village, east of Korma in which armed herders shot and killed the farmers Morheyedin Abdallah Farrah and Suleiman Hassan Omar.<\/p>\n

The herders had invaded the victims\u2019 farm with their livestock, and the displaced got shot when asking them to leave, sources recounted.<\/p>\n

Omda Ahmed Ateem, North Darfur camps\u2019 coordinator and the local omda, condemned the incident and affirmed that these things occur often in the region.  <\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, Ateem asserted the herders were armed by the government of Sudan, adding that nobody was yet held accountable for the latest events.<\/p>\n

The omda appealed to the international community and to the UN Security Council to protect the population against pro-government militias. He also demanded that all criminals are brought to court, stressing that justice must be done.<\/p>\n

He concluded by saying that without justice, violations will continue in Darfur and the region will see no peace.  <\/p>\n

Saraf Omra<\/strong><\/p>\n

The other incident took place in the Birka Saira area, Saraf Omra locality, according to witnesses\u2019 accounts.<\/p>\n

They told Radio Dabanga that a group of camels\u2019 owners attacked farmers on Tuesday evening, leaving two of them dead and another 10 injured. In addition, a number of farmers present during the assault are still missing, the source affirmed.<\/p>\n

As a result of the event, Omar Adam Musa died on Wednesday in an El- Geneina hospital and the other victim was found dead in a farm the next day.<\/p>\n

The wounded were reportedly transferred to a hospital in Saraf Omra for treatment.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the local commissioner, Kamaluddin Yahya Khalil, said in a press statement that regular troops had been immediately sent to the crime scene after the incident to separate the crowds. He affirmed the situation is currently under control.<\/p>\n
