Displaced residents from Zam Zam camp in North Darfur have announced that a meeting ‘of crucial importance’ with the chief of the Central Reserve Forces (known as Abu Tira) will be held on Monday, 17 December, in El Fasher.<\/p>\n

The meeting is scheduled after student Mubarak Ibrahim was allegedly shot dead<\/a> by Abu Tira forces inside the camp last week. A camp resident told Radio Dabanga that the purpose of the meeting, the second of its kind, is to discuss the demand of the displaced to permanently withdraw the Central Reserve Forces (CRF) from the camp and replace them with regular police ‘recognized by all the people of Sudan’.<\/p>\n

The camp resident explained that the CRF chief informed them, during a previous meeting, that the terms of reference to withdraw Abu Tira forces from the camp are ‘not valid’ and that he raised their demand to the concerned authorities.<\/p>\n

Lastly, the displaced added that the camp representatives from all of the camp’s districts will meet with the chief of the CRF in El Fasher on Monday to learn the final decision on withdrawal of Abu Tira forces from Zam Zam camp as well as to demand bringing the perpetrators to justice.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
