The United Nations \u2013 African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) officially confirmed the death of four peacekeepers and the injuring of a fifth in Mukjar, Central Darfur, on Thursday, 20 December.<\/P>

Aisha Elbasri, spokesperson of the Mission, told Radio Dabanga on Friday that UNAMID lost four peacekeepers and that a fifth was wounded.  She added that the \u2018tragic incident\u2019 took place at the Mission\u2019s regional headquarters in Mukjar and that the shots were fired by one of the peacekeepers.<\/P>

The spokeswoman said the Mission is currently investigating the circumstances under which the \u2018unfortunate\u2019 incident took place. <\/P>
