The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced they clashed with the Sudan\u2019s People Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) in South Kordofan killing more than 50 rebels on Sunday, 13 January.<\/p>\n
At the same time, Colonel Al-Sawarmi Khalid Sa\u2019ad, SAF spokesman, admitted that a number of his officers were also killed and others were injured during the battles in the areas of El-Homra and El-Ehemer.<\/p>\n
Sa\u2019ad asserted that the military wounded several rebels, destroyed four of their tanks and seized a large number of their ammunition.<\/p>\n
On his turn, Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, SPLM-N spokesman, denied the army\u2019s claims to Radio Dabanga that 50 rebels were killed.<\/p>\n
Lodi stated that 43 government troops were killed, hundreds were injured and two army tanks and two Land Cruisers were destroyed in three different battles. He added the SAF killed eight rebels, injured 21 and destroyed two of their tanks. <\/p>\n
According to Lodi, his movement carried out ground attacks on a camp of the army and its militias on the village of El-Ehemer, south of Kadugli on Saturday.<\/p>\n
On the same day, the SPLM-N bombed a government base in called El-Homra, east Kadugli and another one in al-Sref, in Kadugli city, he completed.<\/p>\n
Shelling <\/strong><\/p>\n On an unrelated event, Lodi told Radio Dabanga that the Sudanese air force bombed the villages of El-Buram and Altes, South Kordofan, on both Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n According to him, four civilians from El-Buram were injured, one of them \u2013Kuku Aburassim- gravely. The shelling on El-Buram also \u201ccompletely destroyed\u201d three homes, Lodi recounted.<\/p>\n In addition, 10 bombs hit the village of Altes on Saturday, the spokesman said.
