Seven Sudanese students living at the Bembere refugee camp in the Central African Republic (CAR) have \u201cdisappeared\u201d after going to Bangui, the country\u2019s capital, for trainings following an invitation by the government.<\/p>\n
Bembere refugees said CAR\u2019s government offered nursing and French courses to the students in Bangui so that they could help others at the camp upon their return.<\/p>\n
They expressed their \u201csurprise\u201d to Radio Dabanga when news about their disappearance broke out. Sources stressed this happened around the same time the Seleka rebel group invaded many places in CAR including some near the capital.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo far we do not have any information about them, we do not know if they are dead or alive\u201d, a Bembere resident was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n
All of the missing students come from the South Darfur region of Um Dafouk and are aged between 22-35 years old. Their names are: Musa Haroun, Feisal Zakaria, Hassan Arbab, Bakhit Mohamed, Kamal Mohamed, Moses Yagoub, and Hama Abdallah.<\/p>\n
Refugees are urging human rights agencies to carry out investigations to find out the students\u2019 whereabouts and provide them protection.<\/p>\n
\u201cInhumane conditions\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n Bembere\u2019s residents also told Radio Dabanga about the \u201ctragic and inhumane conditions\u201d the camp has been witnessing due to \u201can acute shortage of food and medicines\u201d. <\/p>\n The refugees claim to be missing \u201call kinds of basic commodities\u201d after rebels swept the camp taking with them food, medicines and solar energy devices.<\/p>\n
