Security services and military intelligence authorities have seized food and other commodities of more than 70 civilians following \u201corders by the central government\u201d in the capital of Nertiti locality, Central Darfur.<\/p>\n

One of the citizens told Radio Dabanga on Thursday the victims were ambushed as they were on their way back to their villages after shopping at a Nertiti weekly market.<\/p>\n

The alleged perpetrators, on several vehicles, blocked all roads leading to the city and sources affirm that \u201canyone leaving the capital should be targeted\u201d. <\/p>\n

Besides food, authorities confiscated mobile phones, cows, camels and other belongings of the civilians. <\/p>\n

Another citizen revealed that the security services and the military intelligence raided a number of neighborhoods in Nertiti and confiscated large amounts of sugar and oils, soap and other food and other commodities.<\/p>\n

Nertiti lies near the Jildu and Golo areas, affected by the battle between government forces and the Darfur rebel group SLM-AW that according to the UN displaced 30.000 people.<\/p>\n

Its camps, home to 42.000 displaced, have received about 2.800 newly-arrivals escaping the fighting, the UN says.<\/p>\n
