One person was killed and others were wounded at Wadi Miro, in Krenik locality, West Darfur, after an assault by pro-government militias on Thursday, a relative of the fatal victim told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

Sources are claiming the presence of \u201ccriminal militias has increased\u201d in the area after the tribal clashes in Jebel \u2018Amer, North Darfur, last month.<\/p>\n

The victim\u2019s relative said gunmen riding horses and camels firstly opened fire on a group of people and stole 30 cattle from them. A woman was reportedly injured during the assault and the group decided to chase the pro-government militia to retaliate. <\/p>\n

However, the source recounted, the militants ambushed the citizens instead, and a man was killed and several others were injured.<\/p>\n

Very few people and their livestock reportedly live in Wadi Miro. Locals call this type of semi-deserted areas \u201cFurqaan\u201d. <\/p>\n

Witnesses appealed to authorities to \u201cput an end to the activities of criminal government militias\u201d.<\/p>\n
