An armed group opened fire on the son of the biggest gold trader of South Darfur, killing him on the spot in the area of Umm Leuna, located east of Kass city, sources say.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga, eyewitnesses recounted the victim Moataz Mohamed Zain Ahmed Obaid was leaving the area\u2019s gold mine when he was attacked by militants who stole his money and the gold he was carrying.<\/p>\n

The crime prompted a large crowd comprising mostly of Obaid\u2019s relatives (popularly known as Fasaa<\/em>) to chase the perpetrators. Two of the suspects were arrested and are now detained at the Kass\u2019 prison, according to sources.<\/p>\n

Separately, pro-government militias riding horses and camels looted dozens of cows from the area of Bel Al-Sareif in the South Darfur section of East Jebel Marra, sources told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

Merchant abducted <\/strong><\/p>\n

In another development, three gunmen dressed in military uniforms and driving Land Cruisers abducted a bike merchant inside his son\u2019s home in Nyala, South Darfur\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n

Ibrahim Abdul Karim Abdullah, a bike trader, was snatched at gunpoint on Thursday and taken to an unknown destination, according to witnesses.<\/p>\n
