In a joint offensive, Sudan security authorities raided a camp in Central Darfur and arrested \u201cdozens\u201d of displaced after finding one of their colleagues dead one kilometer away from the site.<\/p>\n
Members of the security services, police officers and the Sudanese army invaded the Bindisi camp on Thursday morning and immediately started beating and looting its residents, witnesses told Radio Dabanga. They took gold, money and mobile phones belonging to the displaced. <\/p>\n
The forces had the support of the tribe of the dead man, who belonged to a community in which virtually all of its inhabitants belong to pro-government militias, a source explained.<\/p>\n
Especially young people were beaten in the raid and the patrols are \u201cforcing\u201d the population of Bindisi to hand over the alleged killer of the policeman, a displaced noted.<\/p>\n
Security authorities are said to have found footprints near the dead body that led to the camp, a source said, adding this is why the displaced are blamed for committing the crime.<\/p>\n
The raid prompted a wave of displacement inside the camp and forces were still in control of Bindisi by Thursday evening, onlookers said.<\/p>\n
Another witness explained to Radio Dabanga the dead policeman was found dead lying flat on his face with two bullets on his neck. This means, he suggested, the victim was trying to run away from whoever it was that killed him.<\/p>\n
