Doha Document signatories condemned rebel leader Abdel Wahid for calling upon displaced and refugees to stage protests against the donors\u2019 conference to be held early next week in Qatar. Dr. Tijani Sese\u2019s Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) spokesman called Wahid\u2019s invitation \u201cinflammatory and opportunistic\u201d.<\/p>\n

He pointed out to the 31 displaced detained by the rebels on their way to the Nyala conference under claims they were security agents, and added the insurgents must “learn from their mistakes”.<\/p>\n

The abduction was “widely criticized but it provided a good service to the conference\u201d which the rebels were trying to foil, LJM spokesman Ahmed Fadul, who is also minister of state, told Radio Dabanga on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Fadul suggested the protests’ invitation by the rebel leader would be ignored by displaced and refugees, because they are the \u201cfirst ones to benefit from the donors\u2019 conference that supports voluntary return and reconstruction\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cLJM believes that displaced and refugees are victims of the war and that they should not be part of the on-going conflict between the Sudanese government and rebel forces\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Abdel Wahid called upon displaced and refugees to hold protests against the Doha donors\u2019 conference from Tuesday until Thursday. The summit will take place on Sunday and Monday.<\/p>\n
