A final peace and co-operation agreement between the Sudanese government and the Justice and Equality Movement faction led by Mohamed Bashar was signed in Doha on Saturday. The signing ceremony was attended by Sudan\u2019s First Vice President, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha and Qatar\u2019s Prime Minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani.<\/p>\n

The new Head of UNAMID and Joint Chief Mediator, Mr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas hailed the event as a \u201cmilestone in the peace making in Darfur.\u201d<\/p>\n

‘No ties between splinter faction and JEM’<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Justice and Equality Movement commented that the movement did not sign any agreement with the government of Sudan in Doha and that the splinter faction is not affiliated to the JEM. Mahjoub Hussein, the media affairs adviser to the president of the movement, stated that the splinter faction has no ties with the JEM.<\/p>\n

He told Radio Dabanga that the movement continues its battle together with its allies, united in the Sudan Revolutionary Front, to bring down the regime in Khartoum.<\/p>\n

Hussein described the donor conference in Doha as a \u2018theatre play\u2019 and added that holding the conference at this critical juncture is to support Omar al-Bashir. He pointed out that the outcome of the conference does not change reality in Darfur or Sudan without a fundamental solution and stated that this solution is to topple the regime. <\/p>\n
