One person was killed when pro-government militias stormed a market in South Darfur\u2019s capital of Nyala on Wednesday.  <\/p>\n

The trader Mohamed Fadul was shot dead on the spot at the El Geneina market when militants tried stealing his commodities and he resisted.<\/p>\n

As a result of the market raid, the commissioner of Nyala north decided to inspect the site and was confronted by protesters demanding better security and denouncing waves of violence in the region.<\/p>\n

Protesters were also urging the state’s government to \u201cbe responsible and protect civilians\u201d, a bystander told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

Last month, pro-government militias attacked the El Geneina market for four consecutive days, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Nyala has been experiencing a series of attacks lately and in March traders demanded to be armed and to have bodyguards due to the \u201cterrifying\u201d situation.<\/p>\n

Larger-scale businessmen are reported to be leaving the town in fear of being kidnapped by insurgents.<\/p>\n
