At least 16 people were killed and dozens were injured when citizens and police who initiated a search for the murderers of a man in South Darfur on Wednesday clashed with the alleged perpetrators on the next day.<\/p>\n

As reported by Radio Dabanga, Mohamed Hussein Sharaf Al Din, was killed on his way home in Miro Kabar at the El Salam locality by unidentified gunmen, eyewitnesses said.<\/p>\n

The search party arrested one of the alleged perpetrators and killed another two. A policeman and a woman were also killed.<\/p>\n

The militants then returned to the area of Dembo Dembo in cars, camels and horses and ambush the group. New clashes left 12 another people dead of both sides, including one woman.<\/p>\n

Militias also attacked and burned several villages in that area, looting property and cattle. This prompted \u2018thousands of people\u2019 to flee, a source told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

Many of them arrived at Kalma camp, while some went to the El Geneina station in Nyala. According to reports, authorities in the capital city will not allow the displaced to enter its premises.  <\/p>\n
