According to a resident of Kabkabiya city in North Darfur, employees of the Madina hospital entered “evening strikes” last Saturday to protest against militia attacks against nurses. Strikes, which begin at 3:00pm and last until the next morning, are entering their third day on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Last Friday, three militiamen stormed the hospital and attempted to assault the nurses. Patients\u2019 companions intervened and the militiamen fled, a nurse working at the hospital told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n
The hospital employees then submitted a statement to the commissioner of Kabkabiya locality demanding improved security with a more convincing police and military presence in hospitals throughout the day.<\/p>\n
In Kabkabiya locality, two people were injured in a clash between militias and residents on Sunday. In an area southeast of Termar, a truck carrying goods from the state\u2019s capital of El Fasher to Kabkabiya city was stopped by militiamen in three Land Cruisers. They forced the drivers and passengers out of the truck and began to loot the goods.<\/p>\n
When residents of Kabkabiya were notified of the attack on Monday, they came to the aid of the driver. Although they managed to recapture the truck and restore it to the driver, two people were injured in the clash. The militiamen fled the scene and the injured, including Hashim Hussein Daoud, were taken to Kabkabiya hospital.<\/p>\n
The truck arrived with all of its contents in Kabkabiya city on Tuesday, sources said.<\/p>\n
