The displaced inhabitants of in the camps in West Darfur were robbed of 180 sheep, a motorcycle and SDG2,000 ($450) after pro-government militiamen moved between and through the camps on Sunday.<\/p>\n
An activist from camp Kondobe told Radio Dabanga that the militiamen also ransacked houses, spreading panic and terror among the residents.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe militiamen started between the Armankul and Tendelti areas, robbing people of their shopping, before moving to the Miraya area near camp Armankul. There, they ransacked all the houses and then fired shots to intimidate residents.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe same militiamen stole about 180 sheep belonging to residents of camp Saraf Jidad, before pillaging camp Kondobe and the area east the camp,\u201d the activist says.<\/p>\n
In a separate incident in Sirba town, two of the militiamen exchanged fire with army troops, causing panic among residents. The militiamen were injured and rushed to a hospital in El Geneina for treatment.<\/p>\n
The activist explained to Radio Dabanga that Sirba camp residents hold the government and the competent authorities responsible for the poor security and incidents of theft.\u201cWe have repeatedly appealed to all parties for assistance, but nobody has listened to us so far.\u201d<\/p>\n
