The spokesman for the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) claims his forces carried out attacks against government troops and militias inside and near Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, on Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn retaliation to the (ruling) National Congress Party regime Air Force attacks which targeted Kauda, Atmur and other areas around Kadugli with MiG fighters, SPLA-N forces launched successful attacks against NCP military and militia camps west of Kadugli city on Sunday,\u201d Arnu Ngutulu Lodi told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n
The SPLA-N now claims control of the Kuhliat area and nearby Mujama, a suburb of Kadugli. Lodi said \u201cthe enemy suffered heavy casualties\u201d of both fighters and military equipment. He suggested this is Khartoum’s fourth attempt to recapture these areas.<\/p>\n
The rebel movement calls on civilians inside Kadugli \u201cto distance themselves from military camps because they are direct targets of fire by rebel forces in its campaign to remove the regime in Khartoum.\u201d The spokesman added the campaign to topple the NCP \u201cwill not stop.\u201d<\/p>\n
Radio Dabanga was unable to independently verify these reports.<\/p>\n
