One man has been killed and three others injured when their vehicle was allegedly fired upon by a 20-strong pro-government militia on Thursday. The incident took place about 11 kilometres east of Assalaya in East Darfur. The victims were en route to Girayda in South Darfur.<\/p>\n
Abdullah Musa died while Omar Ibrahim, Adam Hassan, Ismahil Mohamed were injured in the attack. A witness from the city of Girayda told Radio Dabanga that the militiamen who opened fire on the vehicle were riding camels and horses.<\/p>\n
Also in Girayda, members of the National Intelligence and Security Service reportedly arrested seven owners of call centres in the city – including a 10-year-old – on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Osman Daoud, Mohamed Ali, and the 10-year-old Al Rasheed Muhagir of camp Babanusa, Kamal Yahiya from Umm Bulula camp, Asanusi Adam Musa from Camp A, and Ali Ibrahim from El Salam camp were all detained and are reportedly being held incommunicado without access to their families.<\/p>\n
A relative of one of the detainees told Radio Dabanga that the full reasons for the detention is not known, however one of the accusations levelled at the call centre owners is that their facilities \u201chave been used to communicate with Radio Dabanga using English and local tribal languages\u201d.<\/p>\n
He expressed fear that \u201cthe detainees might be subjected to torture or poor treatment by members of the security apparatus and demanded they are either released or put on trial\u201d.<\/p>\n
