An aircraft reportedly belonging to the Sudanese Air Force “bombed the village of Shamshaka” in Rashad locality, South Kordofan, on Wednesday, leaving one person dead and three others wounded.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga from the field, spokesman for the Sudan Peoples\u2019 Liberation Movement\u2013North (SPLM-N), Arnu Ngutulu Lodi, said that the attack involved an Antonov followed my two MiG jet fighters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Antonov dropped four bombs on farms surrounding the village of Shamshaka at 2pm, causing extensive destruction,\u201d Lodi said. \u201cAt 2:15pm, the two MiGs dropped four bombs into the village itself, targeting two mosques and the market.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lodi said that the raid caused extensive damage. \u201cMadina Ismail Al Agied (37) was killed as the smaller mosque in which she was praying was hit. The 14-year-old Ishraga Hassan Al Jamri, as well as Al Haj Ahmed Sabo (45), and Abdulla Abu Rejla Abdulla (65) were wounded when the large mosque near the market was bombed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition to the serious damage to the mosques, a house belonging to Mohamed Albasha was damaged, while four goats belonging to Osman Musa Bokhari and three more owned by Suleiman Musa Bokhari were killed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lodi pointed out that the attack came on the eve of Eid Al Fitr which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Many civilians were in the mosques preparing for the festival and others and many were shopping in the local market.<\/p>\n

He said that the attack has caused fear and terror among the civilians. \u201cThey could not buy their needs for Eid, nor they will be able to go for the morning Eid prayers out of fear of further attacks,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

Radio Dabanga was unable to independently verify these reports.<\/p>\n
