The farmers of Kabkabiya locality in North Darfur have expressed concern of the failure of this year\u2019s planting season due to several factors.<\/p>\n

One of the farmers explained to Radio Dabanga that although there have been good rains, the current planting season threatens to be a failure as armed herdsmen are grazing camels and cattle in the farms.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey do this by force of arms, beating farmers and threatening them with death if they confront them,\u201d the farmer said. \u201cThere is also a lack of improved planting seeds, agricultural machineries and guidance.\u201d<\/p>\n

He demanded the \u201cthe local and state authorities intervene to protect the farmers and their farms from the herders\u2019 attacks\u201d, confirming that the farmers were cultivating land selected for agriculture in the locality.<\/p>\n
