The National Consensus Forces (NCF) has called on Sudan\u2019s President Omar Al Bashir to \u201cconduct urgent political, economic and constitutional reforms to find a way out for the country\u2019s crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga on Tuesday, spokesman Kamal Omar Abdel Salam said the NCF also calls on the Khartoum government \u201cto take serious action to maintain the unity of Sudan.<\/p>\n

The NCF is a coalition of Sudanese opposition parties who aim to remove the National Congress Party (NCP) from power.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opposition has put forward a vision to save the country,\u201d Abdel Salam said. \u201cThis includes presenting a transitional period ending in free and fair elections; declaration of amnesty for prisoners and detainees; cease-fire and abolition of laws restricting freedoms; the adoption of negotiation to end the armed conflicts; respect for cultural and social diversity; a review of the system of the current federal government; ensuring equitable distribution of wealth and power.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt also involves bringing human rights violators to trial, as well as those guilty of corruption and misuse of public money,\u201d Abdel Salam said. \u201cPart of the plan is also the financially and morally compensate the victims’ families and reinstating those dismissed from the civil service.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abdel Salam pointed out that \u201cthe death toll in Darfur, the Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile state is more than a million people. The perpetrators of such crimes must be punished,\u201d he said. \u201cPresident Al Bashir will inevitably go to criminal trial today or tomorrow, so the alliance\u2019s message calls on him to respond to the legitimate demands of the people of Darfur, the Nuba Mountains and the Blue Nile.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abdel Salam asserts that the NCF vision is \u201ca last resort for the government to find a solution to the challenges that face the country.<\/p>\n
