Militias allegedly armed by the government robbed passengers of two commercial vehicles in two separate incidents in South Darfur. They took money and goods destined for the celebrations of the end of the holy month of Ramdan, or Eid Al Fitr.<\/p>\n
The first event occurred between Duma and Guruf in Marshang, where the militants at gunpoint beat the passengers and robbed their money and mobile phones, according to sources.<\/p>\n
One witness disclosed to Radio Dabanga that one of the passengers, the displaced Rania Mohamed Khalid, had all of her money and clothes stolen which were destined to her family for the celebration of Eid. She was also carrying SDG2,500 ($567) for relatives, which was also taken.<\/p>\n
The second incident occurred between Manawashi and Marshang, where militants robbed the money, mobile phone, and laptop of an employee of the Zalingei locality of Central Darfur, who was on his way to see his family.<\/p>\n
He was also carrying the salary of a teacher of the Zalingei University to give it to the professor’s relatives, which was stolen. Chicken merchant Saifuddin Mohamed Abu Al Qasim had SDG500 ($113) stolen during the same incident. <\/p>\n
