The spokesman of the National Consensus Forces (NCF) said that recent rain and flood in Sudan \u201crevealed the inability of the President to deal with the humanitarian disaster\u201d caused as a result thereof.<\/p>\n

Kamal Omar Abdel Salam, spokesman of the NCF, the coalition of mainstream opposition parties in Sudan, said the government of President Omar Al Bashir \u201cis not concerned about the lives and properties of the citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking during a press conference in Khartoum, Salam said that what is happening now in Sudan is a result of the \u201cfailure of the government.\u201d<\/p>\n

He called upon the government to immediately declare Sudan a \u201cdisaster zone\u201d to enable the international community and voluntary organisations to help the people \u201cwho are sleeping on the ground under the sky.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), about 150,000 people have been affected by flooding in Sudan this year so far.<\/p>\n
