The Association of Displaced Persons and Refugees of Darfur on Tuesday presented humanitarian organisations operating in South Darfur an inventory of the damages caused by the recent rains and floods at Kalma camp in South Darfur.<\/p>\n

Association spokesman, Hussein Abu Sharati, told Radio Dabanga that the inventory was handed over at a meeting with the organisations. He said that the inventory shows that 58,335 displaced persons were affected and 7,622 houses were destroyed.<\/p>\n

Abu Sharati said that \u201cat the meeting, the organisations promised to solve the problem in three phases, beginning by distribution of aid\u201d.<\/p>\n

He confirmed that the organisations have promised that the next phases will involve distribution of tents, plastic sheets and finding places to host the newly displaced persons who are living in the open\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to UN OCHA, this year’s rain victims have amounted so far to about 150,000 across the whole country. <\/span>Government sources <\/span>say that 23,000 families have been affected by rain in the whole country.
