The newly-displaced people of El Salam camp in South Darfur have demanded Sudan\u2019s Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) expedite fulfilment of its pledges to provide aid.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Dabanga from the camp, Sheikh Mahjoub Adam Tabaldiya called on the HAC to supply bamboo sticks, mats, mattresses, blankets, household items and plastics to the newly displaced.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Tabaldiya said the Commission only distributed bamboo sticks on Saturday, without addressing any other needs. \u201cThe Commission has distributed some aid to 990 of 23,000 families,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Tabaldiya explained that \u201cHAC Commissioner for South Darfur, Jamal Youssef, promised to attend a meeting on Tuesday with five sheikhs of the camp, headed by Sheikh Ahmed Ismail, to discuss the issue of distribution of these items to the displaced, but he did not come\u201d.<\/p>\n

He appealed to the Commission to expedite fulfilling the pledges they made.<\/p>\n
