Heavy rains that began on Thursday evening and continued until Friday morning have reportedly destroyed more than 1,000 homes in El Salam camp for the displaced near to Nyala, capital of South Darfur.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Mahjoub Adam Tabaldiya, who regularly updates Radio Dabanga from the camp, said on Friday that many of the displaced have also lost all of their belongings as well as their food supply.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have lost clothing and other essentials, as well as most of the food that has been distributed to them,\u201d the sheikh told Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

He said that the affected families are living in the open without food, shelter, and medicine and appealed to the humanitarian organisations to intervene, rescue them, and provide urgent assistance.<\/p>\n
