A total of 10 displaced children died from malnutrition in Nierteti hospital last week, a sheikh has told Radio Dabanga. The sheikh lamented the high mortality and disease rate among the children, which he attributed to a lack of food, medicine, and health care.<\/p>\n

The name of the most recently deceased are Musalam Ibrahim Ali (21 months), and Nasreen Omar Osman (22 months). The sheikh demanded that humanitarian organisations address the supply of food and medicine to the children of displaced people.<\/p>\n

Another sheikh reported that heavy rains on Sunday caused the drowning of a child, Hawaya Mohamed Abdullah (5 ), and 95 houses to be destroyed in camps to the north and south of Nierteti.<\/p>\n

The sheikh appealed to humanitarian organisations to provide tents and tarpaulins to the affected people, who he said are living in the open without food or shelter.<\/p>\n

Kereinik<\/strong><\/p>\n

A mobile phone seller was injured in an alleged militia attack and robbery between Kereinik locality in West Darfur and state capital El Geneina on Sunday.<\/p>\n

A sheikh reported to Radio Dabanga that the displaced Jamal Ahmed (27 ) was shot as he made his way from El Geneina market to his camp in Kereinik locality. \u201cThe shots broke both of his legs, and the militiamen stole all of his stock, as well as SDG10,000 ($2,270) in cash.”<\/p>\n

The sheikh appealed to the authorities to arrest the perpetrators, and to Unamid to conduct patrols to protect the displaced.<\/p>\n

Manawashi<\/strong><\/p>\n

Several farmers have been beaten in alleged militia attacks in Manawashi South Darfur.<\/p>\n

A farmer told Radio Dabanga that Ali Mohamed Adam and Abdullah Ali Ahmed were seriously injured when armed militiamen beat them before robbing them of their money, mobile phones, and wristwatches.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe militiamen also tried to rape one of the women, but passers-by came to her rescue.\u201d<\/p>\n

The farmer appealed to Manawashi Commissioner Adam Mohamed Nour Bush to intervene to protect farmers from militia attack.<\/p>\n

Saraf Omra<\/strong><\/p>\n

Heavy rains on Saturday resulted in the destruction of more than 100 homes of the displaced at camp Dankoj in Saraf Omra locality in North Darfur, one of the sheiks of the camp reported to Radio Dabanga.<\/p>\n

In addition to the destruction of property, the resulting flash floods washed away much of their food supply and caused the death of a number of livestock.<\/p>\n

The sheikh said the affected families are still living in the open without food or medicine and appealed to the authorities and organisations to provide assistance for them.<\/p>\n
