The Liberation and Justice Movement faction led by Ali Karbino has claimed the \u201cliberation\u201d of the military region of Um Hashaba, 12km west of El Fasher, capital of North Darfur. During the action, 26 army staff and militiamen were reportedly killed, others wounded, and eight Land Cruisers, as well as small and heavy arms were captured.<\/p>\n

Mubarak Bakhit Ibrahim Amin, responsible for the management and administration of the Movement, informed Radio Dabanga that on Tuesday afternoon their forces attacked Um Hashaba and managed to expel the army troops and militias from the area. Twenty-six army staff and militiamen were killed, others wounded, and eight Land Cruisers, as well as small and heavy arms were captured. Mubarak added that \u201cthe rest of the losses of the government still have to be confirmed\u201d.<\/p>\n

Radio Dabanga was unable to independently confirm this report.<\/p>\n

East Jebel Marra<\/strong><\/p>\n

Witnesses who fled from the villages Makariba A and Makariba B, south of El Fasher and from villages in the area of Tabit, in East Jebel Marra, have reported casualties and the death of livestock due to intense bombardments, allegedly by the Sudanese Air Forces and shelling by heavy artillery on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

One witness confirmed to Radio Dabanga the killing of one of his relatives named Haji Ali Mousa Ali (65), amongst others during an air strike, while they were hiding in one of the valleys in the Tabit area. Other witnesses who fled confirmed that heavy aerial bombardments started on Tuesday evening and continued until Wednesday evening, targeting the villages Makariba A and Makariba B located between Tabit and Zamzam camp, south of El Fasher and places around the area of Tabit.<\/p>\n

The witnesses said that these bombardments coincided with the shelling, reportedly launched from Tabit military base, which led to the deaths. The injured have not yet been counted since the villagers have been hiding in valleys and mountains and are surviving by themselves.<\/p>\n
