As previously reported by Radio Dabanga, on Thursday morning a demonstration ended in a violent protest against the governor, with demonstrators setting fire to the government offices (see photo series and video link below).<\/p>\n<p>The police quelled the uprising firing live ammunition which killed five people and injured at least 48. Scores of youths were arrested.<\/p>\n<p>The protest began as citizens blamed the Governor for the lack of security leading to the killing on Wednesday of the chairman of the Nyala soccer team Al Merreikh, Ishmael Ibrahim Wadi, who is also a popular businessman.
